About The Position

Maintain a working, professional relationship with Contract producers Inspect farms for compliance of contractual grower agreements Follow the company’s safety policies Adhere to strict biosecurity guidelines established by the company Weigh birds according to schedule Draws blood and collects tissue samples according to local, state and federal guidelines Monitors farm conditions and upholds all animal welfare practices Monitor bird health and communicates this with the Breeder Manager and Veterinarians Inventory feed on farms, and orders feed weekly Work with the feed mill to maximize efficiency in making and hauling of feed Make feeding decisions according to Breeder Dept Program, based on weight and performance Work closely with the hatchery in hatchability egg cleanliness and egg pickup Perform vaccinations and coordinate with contract crews Track and analyze productivity, fertility and hatchability Keep detailed flock records Must be flexible to sudden program changes resulting from weather, disaster, disease, etc. May be asked to train other employees Understand and support best management practices Efficient in computer programs such as excel, word, etc. Some Nights and weekends are required.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in animal science/biology/agriculture or related field preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Must be able to perform basic math calculations, read graphs, sort data.
  • Must be able to solve practical problems.
  • Must be able to follow instruction, manage time wisely , be self-motivated and plan schedules.
  • Hands are regularly used to handle birds.
  • Candidate will walk, sit, reach, stretch, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • The environment being worked in will require a tolerance to dust, foul odors, hot and cold conditions, rainy and dry conditions.
  • Must be able to tolerate inconsistent start and stop times, as well as perform postmortem examinations.

Nice To Haves

  • No prior poultry experience is required; however, a general knowledge of animal husbandry practices is preferred.
