About The Position

Performs a variety of operational and instructional duties related to the following Art and Education Programs: Youth and Adult Pottery.

Requirements

  • Background in art programming for youth and adults.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in oral and written formats with staff and members.
  • Ability to understand and interpret rules and regulations which govern the HRCA membership.
  • Ability to collect, analyze and present data in report format.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, peers and HRCA membership.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain current American Red Cross First Aid and CPR certification within 30 days of employment.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
  • Two years in youth and adult clay arts programming or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in art or other related areas from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Workshops and Certifications will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Instructs classes within the Pottery area for youth and adult classes.
  • Operates the kilns and mix glazes as the volume of the program dictates. While performing these duties, provide pottery studio supervision during open lab times.
  • Works closely with the Arts Enrichment Coordinator regarding inventory and placement of supply orders.
  • Plans and prepare your own class curriculum while providing feedback on curriculum needs for other instructors for all other classes and programs.
  • Responsible for keeping the pottery studio clean and organized, including tables, cubby areas, kiln and glaze rooms, and maintaining cleanliness of wheels, sinks, slab roller and other equipment.
  • Oversees and manages the Pottery Sales.
  • Performs related duties as assigned and required.
