Surround yourself with people who care about making a difference – come join us! We have an exciting opportunity for a Part-time Pot Washer to join our Dining and Nutrition Services department. The Pot Washer is primarily responsible for Washing, rinsing, sanitizing, and air drying pots, pans, cooking utensils, cutting boards and other items according to department procedure and work flow sheets. Soaks (when necessary) and scrapes pans to loosen cooked on debris. Cleans stationary cooking equipment when requested by cooks. Responsible for maintaining a clean pot storage room including shelves, walls, and floor. Also responsible to the proper storage of clean pots and pans (dry and in an inverted position). Also responsible for the cleanliness of work area including racks, sinks, tile around pot area, etc. Empties and refills pot sinks at least every 30 minutes, or more frequently if needed. Disposes of trash and garbage from kitchen as needed and the cleaning of the trash containers. Sweeps and mops kitchen floor. In an emergency, will assist with delivery of food trucks to/from various wings. Demonstrates an understanding of, and embraces, the mission statement of Christian Health.

Requirements

  • High School education.
  • Must be able to see and hear, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
  • Must function independently, have flexibility and personal integrity.
  • Must demonstrate emotional stability and be able to relate to the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times, hostile people within the facility including residents, family members, personnel, visitors, etc.
  • Available to work beyond normal working hours, weekends and holidays, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.
  • Communicates with department personnel.
  • Must be able to speak and write English in a legible and understandable manner.
  • Must possess the ability and willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel.
  • Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm.
  • Must have the ability to follow written and/or oral instructions.

  • Consistently prepares and uses the three (3) sink method of pot washing (wash, rinse, sanitize) according to department policy.
  • Effectively cleans all cooking equipment, brazier, kettles, grill, as requested throughout production, and at the end of the day.
  • Completely air-dries all items before storing. Stores all items inverted in proper location.
  • Soaks, scrapes, washes, rinses, and sanitizes pots, pans cutting boards, utensils and other kitchen smallwares; resulting in a clean and sanitized product.
  • Frequently empties kitchen garbage cans and replaces liner. Cleans garbage cans daily.
  • Thoroughly sweeps and mops kitchen floor according to work flow. Leaves floor completely clean and free of food residue.
  • Consistently demonstrates high levels of personal hygiene.
  • Properly utilizes test strips to test strength of sanitizing solution. Notifies management if mixture does not meet standard.
  • Constantly maintains clean and orderly work and storage areas.
  • Periodically during the week, assist in maintaining the cleaning the dish wash machine.
  • Keeps janitor's closet clean and neat.
  • Demonstrates compliance with the CH ASPIRE Standards of Performance.
