About The Position

KIPP Public School Northern California’s KIPP Forward team is looking for a full-time Postsecondary and Career Success (PACS) Advisor to work closely with KIPP NorCal alumni to equip their persistence through college, career and beyond. KIPP is entering its sixth year of sending behavioral science-backed Nudge text messages to students using an Artificial Intelligence-Powered Bot to respond to participants and answer frequently asked questions. This role is focused on using this Nudge texting technology to support one-on-one advising for a caseload of primarily college-enrolled alumni. The Postsecondary and Career Success Advisor will write and send mass text messages to alumni—applying behavioral science principles to their Nudges and using data to personalize messages. The Advisor will monitor alumni conversations with the AI Bot and follow-up with alumni who could benefit from additional individualized advising. The Advisor will research college and career development opportunities and produce new content and resources (such as videos, graphics, or guides) to share via the Nudge platform. The Advisor will also plan and execute targeted persistence and career-focused programming throughout the region. They will report to the Associate Director of Postsecondary and Career Success and work out of the KIPP Northern California Regional Support Office (Oakland). This role requires the candidate to be on site at least three days a week. The ideal candidate for this position will have a deep passion for social justice and educational equity for all children, and has a background in college advising, project management skills, as well as outstanding written and verbal communication skills. They must have a demonstrated interest in serving students from historically marginalized communities that have been systematically underserved and have a relentless dedication to supporting our students to and through their postsecondary programs.

Requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Experience producing content for social media (such a videos, graphics, resources)
  • Experience managing projects and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience using or managing mass communication platforms, such as mass texting systems, newsletter platforms, or other content management systems
  • Ability to speak Spanish or Vietnamese is desirable
  • Preferred experience with Salesforce CRM

Responsibilities

  • Manage Caseload of Alumni via Nudge Platform (45%)
  • Write & schedule regional campaigns, as well as review & approve national campaigns on a monthly basis
  • Create and manage full year messaging scope & sequence; making changes as needed based on regional communication needs
  • Produce new content to include with Nudge text messages, such as graphics or guides
  • Support students who reach out via Nudge for support, as needed
  • Guide unenrolled alumni to receive re-enrollment support that helps them start their journey in a postsecondary program
  • Provide advising and coaching services focused on college persistence, the transfer process, college completion, financial aid, and career readiness based on alumni needs, connecting them to additional resources across the team when necessary
  • Drive Alumni Communications (25%)
  • Develop a marketing and social media strategy to ensure KIPP NorCal Alumni are aware of KIPP Forward offerings & services
  • Maintain monthly newsletter to highlight & market all career opportunities & upcoming events to all alumni
  • Provide alumni with critical information and resources to support their postsecondary program persistence and completion via newsletters, social media, website updates or other sources
  • Ensure all NorCal Alumni transition smoothly to regional offerings as they complete their 1st year of Postsecondary advising from the KIPP Forward Team
  • Execute Alumni Projects & Programming (20%)
  • Create and execute programming focused on alumni persistence and completion, aligned to key team, regional, or network priorities
  • Transfer Support Workshop Series
  • Quarterly Regional Alumni Community-Building Events
  • Additional projects as needed. Some previous projects have included managing a transition retreat for seniors, creating and executing a strategy to increase transfer rates for our community college students, and managing the formal MOU process with college partners.
  • Collaborate with Leadership for Team Accountability and Success (10%)
  • Serve as a member of the Postsecondary and Career Success team, modeling stellar performance and healthy communication
  • Attend and participate in all national KIPP Forward trainings, KIPP Forward team meetings, and Regional Support Office team meetings
  • Support with other team needs, as required
