About The Position

The Department of Mathematics in Penn State's Eberly College of Science is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar beginning Summer 2026. The successful candidate will work with Professor Alberto Bressan in the areas of hyperbolic conservation laws and geometric optimization problems. These include: well-posedness, convergence and error estimates for approximate solutions, analysis of singularities, optimal control, and applications to macroscopic models of traffic flow. Teaching may be required.

Requirements

  • Applicants must have recently completed a Ph.D. and have exceptional research potential.
  • Candidates will be considered with background in the areas of hyperbolic PDEs and optimization problems.

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise in numerical simulations (with Matlab or Python) will be valued.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching may be required.
