About The Position

The overarching goal of this project is to develop receptor-targeting cyclic peptides for drug delivery. The successful candidate will design, synthesize, and characterize novel peptide scaffolds engineered for improved receptor binding, enhanced stability, and optimized delivery properties. These peptides will be integrated into drug conjugates and delivery vehicles to improve therapeutic index, tissue specificity, and cellular uptake. The research spans molecule design → synthesis → in vitro evaluation → functional screening, with opportunities for collaboration across structural biology, proteomics, and disease-focused groups.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry or related discipline
  • Cyclic peptide chemistry and solid-phase peptide synthesis.
  • Cell-penetrating peptide (CPP) design and biochemistry.
  • Chemical biology techniques relevant to peptide modification and conjugation.
  • High-throughput screening (HTS) and data-driven hit validation.
  • Analytical characterization (LC-MS, HPLC, mass spectrometry).
  • Functional biochemical or cell-based assays.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced research environment.

Responsibilities

  • Peptide Synthesis & Purification Conduct solid-phase and solution-phase synthesis of cyclic and multicyclic peptides. Optimize cyclization and bioconjugation chemistries. Purify peptides using HPLC and other chromatographic methods.
  • Design & Engineering of Novel Peptide Scaffolds Develop new backbone architectures, linkers, and receptor-binding motifs. Apply structure–activity insights to improve affinity, permeability, and stability. Design cell-penetrating and receptor-targeting sequences for delivery applications.
  • Analytical & Functional Assays Characterize peptides using LC-MS, MS/MS, NMR (as applicable), and biophysical assays. Perform biochemical, cellular, and reporter-based functional assays. Conduct in vitro uptake, trafficking, and delivery efficiency studies. Participate in high-throughput screening (HTS) and hit validation pipelines.
