About The Position

The Heckmann Lab at USF Health Neuroscience Institute and Byrd Alzheimer’s Center is recruiting two postdoctoral fellows for appointment effective immediately. Our laboratory studies the molecular regulation of the neuroimmune system. We are seeking highly motivated and independent individuals to explore the role and potential therapeutic capacity of targeting cellular bioenergetics in neuroinflammation and aging biology. As a postdoc in the Heckmann Lab, you will lead novel independent studies to address outstanding questions scientific questions and leverage gained knowledge for the development of new therapeutic avenues for difficult to treat diseases. This position does require significant independence both experimentally and conceptually.

Requirements

  • Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or MD.
  • Ph.D. in a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Must meet university criteria for appointment at the rank of Postdoctoral Fellow.
  • Extensive knowledge of general molecular biology techniques
  • Experience directly using mice as an experimental model.
  • Strong publication record in recognized international peer-reviewed journals.

Nice To Haves

  • Willing to seek extramural funding as a step towards career progression, although independent funding is not required to support this position.
