About The Position

This job posting is for a search waiver candidate. No other applications will be accepted This is a full-time Postdoctoral Researcher position will support advanced materials and manufacturing research within the Processing & Physical Metallurgy (PPM) Laboratory (PI: Dr. Ming Chen). The researcher will work on projects involving manufacturing of porous metals for energy storage and in-situ characterization of mechanical properties of metals and ceramics. The role requires strong experimental skills, academic writing skills, and the ability to collaborate with graduate and undergraduate students. The Postdoctoral Researcher will conduct advanced experimental and analytical research in support of projects.

Requirements

  • A Ph.D in Science and Engineering or related field by the time of appointment
  • Completion of a doctoral degree in the appropriate discipline is required.
  • The doctoral degree must have been completed within the five years immediately preceding the first date of appointment as a postdoctoral fellow at the University.
  • The individual cannot have held previous positions in the professional ranks.

Responsibilities

  • Designing and conducting experiments involving powder metallurgy, additive manufacturing, and thermal/mechanical testing.
  • Performing microstructural characterization using SEM/EBSD, XRD, and other advanced techniques.
  • Leading data analysis, interpretation, and dissemination through peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.
  • Mentoring graduate and undergraduate researchers, assisting with laboratory training, and contributing to a collaborative and safe research environment.
