This position will provide technical supports to, and work directly with the PI on all aspects of the planed sweet potato genomics research and breeding to help meet the quality, quantity, and timeline targets for the project deliverables. Specific duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to, experiment planning, lab bench works such as extractions of extra-long genomic DNA extraction and RNA, Ion-torrent Next-Generation and Nanopore Third-Generation sequencing, and genotyping by sequencing and dqPCR, bioinformatics data analyses, and greenhouse and field works for preparations of sweet potato experimental materials and for breeding selections. The position will also involve lab management and supervision of students. Additionally, the successful candidate must be willing and able to work flexible schedules, weekends during peak periods of field research works when needed. This position is funded by restricted funds or a grant. Continued employment is contingent upon the renewal of restricted or grant funds. The salary is determined in accordance with the University’s compensation structure and will be commensurate with the candidates’ education and experience, within the assigned salary range for this position.
