A NIH-funded postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Haam in the Department of Biological Sciences at Louisiana State University (http://haamlab.org). Dr. Haam’s laboratory is interested in understanding the neural circuit basis of memory formation using cutting-edge experimental and computational approaches. The research projects will utilize multidisciplinary approaches that combine photometry, electrophysiology, miniature endoscopy, rodent behavior, histology, transcriptome, and computational analysis to investigate memory circuits in the entorhinal cortex and their interactions with the hippocampal and neocortical regions. Duties include: 60% Conduct in vivo or in vitro experiments to elucidate neural circuits responsible for memory formation. 20% Perform in-depth analysis of data and conduct literature search to keep abreast of the new findings in the field. 10% Train undergraduate and graduate students in the lab. 5% Assist in grant writing. 5% Present findings during lab meetings, departmental seminars, and scientific conferences.
