The Department of Physics at Villanova University invites applications for a postdoctoral position in Experimental Condensed Matter Physics in the 2D Materials Laboratory of Prof. Scott Dietrich. This is a grant-funded position and is subject to continuing based on the availability of funding. The successful candidate will investigate highly interacting electronic states in van der Waals materials at low temperatures and high magnetic fields. This project involves nanoscale device fabrication using cleanroom facilities, electrical transport measurements, and microwave spectroscopy measurements. It also contains strong ties to collaborating institutions, requiring the postdoctoral researcher to communicate closely with partnering teams. The Villanova Physics Department is dedicated to excellence in teaching and research, and we recognize the importance of involving our undergraduates in cutting-edge research. We are particularly interested in candidates who can contribute in such an atmosphere. Teaching opportunities are available for interested candidates. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from the date of hire, with a possibility of continuing that depends on continued grant funding. Villanova is a Catholic university sponsored by the Augustinian Order. The University is an equal opportunity employer and seeks candidates who understand, respect and can contribute to the University’s mission and values.
