About The Position
The Zhang Lab at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics at University of Virginia School of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated, organized and enthusiastic postdoc for high-throughput proteomic studies. Zhang lab focuses on the development and application of mass spectrometry-based methods for identification of key players in cancer biology and drug discovery. We integrate high-throughput proteomic, genetic, chemical, bioinformatics tools to dissect the regulatory mechanisms involved in cancer development and treatment. Please send an email with your CV if you are interested. Postdoctoral employment is normally limited to an individual who has been awarded a doctoral degree within the previous five years. This is a 12-month appointment with the possibility of renewal (for an additional two, one-year increments) contingent upon satisfactory performance and the availability of funding. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. This position is based in Charlottesville, VA, and must be performed fully on-site. Requirements
- Candidates must have a doctoral degree, preferably a PhD n Pharmacology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related Biomedical Science discipline.
- Candidates should also have prior experience in the following areas: HPLC, and with MS, LC-MS, and/or LC-MS/MS
- Bioinformatics analysis
- Cell culture and sample preparation
Responsibilities
- Full-time research or scholarship at the University.
- Preparatory for a full-time academic or research career
- Supervised by a senior scholar, and allows the appointee to publish the results of his/her research or scholarship
- Present Data at Lab Meetings
- Accurately document experimental findings
- In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
