About The Position

The Postdoctoral Research Associate will participate in all aspects of ongoing research in the Lindahl group, which focuses on the trafficking of iron, copper, and zinc in cellular systems. Research efforts emphasize labile metal pools and systems‑level understanding of metal ion metabolism and homeostasis in whole cells. The position also involves investigating the distribution of platinum in mice treated with platinum‑based anticancer drugs. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will actively contribute to these multidisciplinary research projects.

Requirements

  • Appropriate PhD in a related field.
  • Must be able to perform experimental lab work associated with the project.

Nice To Haves

  • PhD in chemistry (or biochemistry).
  • Expertise in various biochemical, spectroscopic and/or Bioinorganic, Bioanalytical, and Biophysical techniques.
  • Experience with metal ions in biological systems.
  • Ability to analyze spectroscopic and biological data involving metal ions in biology.
  • Ability to use relevant software like Igor Pro, Origin, or WMOSS.
  • Ability to work with computers and computational approaches.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to perform all tasks and job responsibilities safely without injury to self and others in compliance with A&M System and HSC guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Performs research on metal ion trafficking in cells and animals using advanced analytical and biophysical methods such as EPR, Mössbauer spectroscopy, ICP‑MS, and liquid chromatography.
  • Prepares presentation materials on research topics for delivery to both small and large audiences.
  • Assists with writing and editing research manuscripts for publication.
  • Attends one scientific conference per year when funding is available.
  • Actively participates in the preparation of required technical progress reports for research sponsors.
