About The Position

Conducts advanced research in environmental engineering to support a funded project focused on the development of innovative PFAS monitoring technology. Contributes to experimental design, data analysis, and dissemination of research findings while supporting the broader research mission of the department. Typical hiring salary for this soft-money funded position is up to $59,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience. Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Chemistry, or a closely related field prior to start date.
  • Demonstrated research experience in environmental monitoring, environmental transport, or transformation processes.
  • Experience with extraction and enrichment techniques for organic compounds in environmental samples, or experience in DNA enrichment or antibiotic resistance gene (ARG) transformation studies.
  • Record of scholarly achievement, including at least one first-author publication in a peer-reviewed journal.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills demonstrated through publications and presentations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with advanced analytical instrumentation such as HPLC-UV, UV-Vis spectroscopy, TOC analyzers, nanoparticle tracking analysis (NTA), IC, LC-MS/MS, or NMR.
  • Demonstrated success in interdisciplinary research collaborations.
  • Experience mentoring students or junior researchers.
  • Familiarity with PFAS-related research or emerging contaminant analysis.
