About The Position

The Postdoctoral Research Associate position at Texas A&M Agrilife Research, Department of Soil & Crop Sciences, involves preparing plant culture and materials for nucleic acid and chemical isolation, conducting library preparation for high-throughput sequencing and analyses, and performing chromatography analysis for specialized plant chemicals. The associate will also supervise projects with the Principal Investigator (PI), mentor research graduate students and other personnel, and contribute to securing extramural support through experiments and grant writing. Additional responsibilities include participating in professional activities, supervising part-time student labor, and assisting with various program managerial activities. The role is based in College Station, Texas.

Requirements

• PhD in relevant field (plant science, genetics and genomics, biochemistry etc.)
• Ability to conduct independent research in controlled environment systems
• Strong ability to formulate hypothesis, design experiments, handle scientific data, perform statistical analysis, and write scientific reports
• Evidence of publications in peer-reviewed journals
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
• Good organizational skills
• Ability to effectively communicate with faculty, students, and staff
• Ability to drive and travel independently or in groups

Nice To Haves

• Experience in the cultivation of plants in greenhouse (hydroponic, soil culture)
• Experience in conducting nucleic acid isolation and library preparation for high-throughput sequencing
