About The Position

This Postdoctoral Research Associate position at Texas A&M AgriLife Research, within the Department of Soil & Crop Sciences in College Station, Texas, involves a range of scientific and supervisory duties. The role focuses on preparing plant cultures, conducting nucleic acid and chemical isolation, performing library preparation for high-throughput sequencing and analyses, and executing chromatography analysis for specialized plant chemicals. The associate will work closely with a Principal Investigator (PI) to supervise projects and mentor research graduate students and other personnel. A key aspect of the role is contributing to securing extramural funding through experimental work and grant writing assistance, as well as participating in professional activities. Additionally, the position includes supervising part-time student labor and assisting with various program managerial activities. Requirements

  • PhD in relevant field (plant science, genetics and genomics, biochemistry etc.)
  • Ability to conduct independent research in controlled environment systems
  • Strong ability to formulate hypothesis, design experiments, handle scientific data, perform statistical analysis, and write scientific reports
  • Evidence of publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with faculty, students, and staff
  • Ability to drive and travel independently or in groups

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to drive and travel independently or in groups
  • Experience in the cultivation of plants in greenhouse (hydroponic, soil culture)

Responsibilities
