Job Responsibilities: -Coordinate genomic prediction research in the Texas A&M AgriLife Research Sorghum Improvement Program. -Build and manage a database amenable to both genomic and Phenomic prediction programs that incorporates genotype (genotype by sequence) and phenotype data (from traditional and high throughput, remote sensing sources) -Use or develop R programming code to complete data analytics, statistical analysis. -Develop a breeding pipeline that incorporates genomic, Phenomic and Enviromic data to implement a predictive-based breeding scheme. -Complete statistical analysis and summarize results for use of the breeding program and for use in scientific and clientele-oriented publications. -Prepare and write proposals to funding agencies; maintain financial records related to research projects. -Travel to locations where the breeding program conducts research and breeding trials. -Travel to the locations of collaborators to work on shared research activities. -Supervise undergraduate and junior- and mid-level technical support staff as needed. -Provide support and guidance to graduate students as assigned. -Assist in sorghum breeding program activities including, but not limited to, field planning, seed packaging, planting, pollination, phenotyping and harvesting. -Write technical reports as needed for funded projects and write manuscripts for publication in in scientific journals. -Other duties as assigned. Required Education: -PhD in Plant Breeding or closely related field Preferred Experience: -Proven expertise in genomic and phenomic selection methodologies and their application in sorghum.
