About The Position

The Boon Lab at WashU in St. Louis is looking for an enthusiastic Post-doctoral fellow to support our team studying cellular immune responses to influenza virus and SARS-CoV-2 in mouse and hamster models. The projects in the lab include assessing the role of T and B cell immunity on virus infection and transmission, evaluating innovative virus vaccines, as well as developing assays and reagents for hamster immunology, and identifying T cell epitopes in different viruses and species. The lab is housed at WashU Medicine in Saint Louis, MO. The lab is housed on a floor with several other laboratories that study virus-host interactions. We have ongoing collaborations with labs in many other departments in the University including Molecular Microbiology and Pathology & Immunology.

Requirements

  • Ph.D., M.D. Or Equivalent Terminal Or Doctoral Degree.
  • No specific certification/professional license is required for this position.
  • No specific work experience is required for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • PhD in immunology, molecular biology, or microbiology, or a similar field.
  • Have published one or more papers in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Ability to guide research projects.
  • Have a background in or desire to learn bioinformatics analysis techniques.
  • Good interpersonal skills and willingness to mentor students and technicians.
  • Excellent speaking, reading and writing skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with grant preparation and reporting.
  • Prepares and submits papers on research.
  • Assists in the design of research experiments.
  • Evaluates research findings and assists in the reporting of the results.
  • Conscientious discharge of their research responsibilities.
  • Maintains conformity with ethical standards in research.
  • Maintains compliance with good laboratory practice including the maintenance of adequate research records.
  • Engages in open and timely discussion with their mentor regarding possession or distribution of material, reagents, or records belonging to their laboratory and any proposed disclosure of findings or techniques privately or in publications.
  • Collegial conduct towards co-trainees, staff members and members of the research group.
  • Adherence to all applicable University policies, procedures and regulations.
  • All data, research records and materials and other intellectual property generated in University laboratories remain the property of the University.
