About The Position

The University of Arizona's Psychology department invites you to apply to the role of Postdoctoral Research Associate I. The Brain Imaging, Behavior and Aging Lab in the Department of Psychology conducts research studies using neuroimaging techniques to understand the effects of brain aging and Alzheimer's disease. The post-doctoral fellow will be involved in analyses of existing and ongoing lab and publicly available datasets, will perform analyses with neuroimaging data, and will develop research questions and assist in performing primary and secondary analyses on factors influencing brain and cognitive aging, cerebrovascular disease, and Alzheimer's disease. Requirements

  • A Ph.D. in psychology, neuroscience, engineering, mathematics, or other quantitative fields.
  • Special training experience in statistics.
  • Must have defended dissertation by December 15th, 2025.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong experience in statistics, MRI data analysis and data visualizalization methods, and integration of neuroimaging and physiological data with participant clinical/behavioral characteristics, including demographics, measures of cognitive function, and clinical health conditions and risk factors.
  • Experience in Matlab or other programming routines and languages.
  • Experience with neuroimaging methods and analyzing MRI data using Freesurfer, SPM, FSL or other image analysis software.

Responsibilities

  • Analysis and management of datasets, including using a variety of multivariate and univariate analytic methods, to address research questions involving neuroimaging, behavioral, cognitive, clinical, and physiological variables and health risk factors.
  • Assist in gaining access to relevant datasets, preparing data for analysis, and performing preliminary QC and data checks to support analyses.
  • Collaboration with other researchers on current and ongoing projects, including faculty, postdocs, graduate students, undergraduates, and research staff.
  • Assistance with grant applications for new and supplemental federal, state, and private grants.
  • Dissemination of findings as a lead and co-author through publications and scientific presentations.
