About The Position

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Texas A&M University is seeking a motivated Postdoc Research Associate to join Dr. Dravid’s lab. Ready to turn your neuroscience expertise into discoveries that change lives? This role will contribute to groundbreaking research uncovering how glutamate receptors influence neurological conditions for chronic pain , Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease . Candidates with experience in cellular electrophysiology, receptor neuropharmacology and drug discovery, and protein biochemistry and structural biology will be well-suited for this role. You’ll apply your specialized skills using advanced genetic mouse models and techniques like confocal imaging, brain-slice electrophysiology, in vivo methods, molecular biology, and behavioral assays. This position offers the opportunity to lead experiments, analyze data, publish impactful findings, and present at scientific conferences—making it an ideal next step for researchers eager to advance translational neuroscience and contribute to future therapeutic breakthroughs.

Requirements

  • Appropriate PhD in neuroscience, pharmacology, or related areas.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Experiments Responsible for conducting experiments to address the role of glutamate receptors in the central nervous system using a multidisciplinary approach.
  • Performs various techniques such as electrophysiology, in vivo manipulations, molecular biology, protein biochemistry, drug discovery and behavioral analysis.
  • Data Analysis Uses electrophysiology, molecular biology, and drug discovery to answer the research questions.
  • Publications Compile reports for publication and funded or future grant applications.
  • Publishes research findings in peer reviewed journals.
  • Other duties as assigned.
