The candidate will work in a mentored capacity as a postdoctoral research fellow, leading and/or assisting in data-driven clinical research involving endocrine complications of childhood cancer. This position does not involve any patient contact. The primary goal is to propose and design a research project, describe its aims and hypotheses, obtain approval from data owners, complete data collection and analysis (in collaboration with CRAs and/or biostatistical analysts, as needed), and write a manuscript based on the findings. Additional abstract presentations may be pursued. Time-permitting, the candidate will gain exposure to and potentially assist with other research projects, with approval of the mentor. The research project will utilize existing datasets already collected and available with relevant approvals at St. Jude. The research mentor is Angela Delaney, MD, Director of Division of Endocrinology, Department of Pediatric Medicine. The research is clinical, based on data already collected, and does not involve contact with clinical trial participants. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is a world-class research institution dedicated to pediatric cancer and other catastrophic diseases of childhood, and is the first and only National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center devoted solely to children. It offers a highly collaborative multidisciplinary environment with 300 faculty, including a Nobel laureate and members of the National Academy of Science and the National Academy of Medicine. St. Jude is ranked on Fortune Magazine’s “Best Workplaces in Health Care & Biopharma” and Glassdoor’s “Best Places to Work,” and is located in Memphis, Tennessee. As a postdoctoral trainee, individuals will have access to top-quality scientists and mentors, a blend of academic freedom and industrial efficiency with shared resources and cutting-edge technology, customized professional and career growth programs, competitive compensation, and a strong sense of community.
