Thematics include AI, data and digital politics; climate change, renewable energy and green economies; social policy; higher education and knowledge production; and South-South cooperation. The empirical scope of the research should focus on China or India, or engage with China-India comparisons and connections, or global flows in which India or China are prominent. Applications are welcome from all social science and humanities disciplines, including interdisciplinary PhD programs. ICI serves as a hub for research and public engagement on India, China, and beyond. Its mission is to address issues of global concern through collaborative research and the formation of transnational networks of scholars and practitioners based in India, China, and elsewhere around the world. We believe that studying and thinking with the pasts and presents of India, China, and other countries in the global South can provide alternative frameworks to dominant understandings of global politics, culture, and design.
