Van Andel Institute (VAI), a world-class biomedical research institute, located in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is dedicated to improving human health. We are pioneers in the fight against cancer, Parkinson's, and other diseases. We are committed to inspiring the next generation of scientists and educators. A Postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Bangan Wang in the Department of Neurodegenerative Science in the Van Andel Institute (VAI). Dr.Wang’s lab (https://wanglab.vai.org/) leverages innovative single-cell multi-omics technologies to decipher the layers of epigenetic mechanisms including DNA methylation and 3D chromation structure that regulate the brain cell development and neurondegeneration diseases. Projects in the laboratory encompass a broad range of approaches, from hands-on bench experiments to computational analysis of large-scale datasets. Our cutting-edge single-cell technologies are uniquely developed in-house and are being utilized in a series of high-impact consortium projects aimed at unraveling cellular diversity within the brain, like CZI-Human Cell Atlas, the AHA-Allen Initiative, and the NIH BRAIN Initiative. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to be trained with both traditional and state-of-the-art technologies and will work in a highly interdisciplinary environment that allows close interaction with the growing research community at the Van Andel Institute (VAI).
