The Heike McKinney Laboratory is at the forefront of investigating clinical outcomes in children born with a cleft lip and/or palate and applying informatics and data science approaches to improving clinical care for affected families. We are dedicated to advancing clinical practice through generating new knowledge applying epidemiologic, health sciences, mixed methods and data science approaches to facilitate the understanding of feeding, nutrition and growth in children born with a cleft. We are also at the forefront of developing a global learning health network so craniofacial teams can learn from each other and adopt practices that improve care for all children with a cleft. The postdoctoral fellow will receive funding, focused mentoring, experience and training in clinical research and will further develop their expertise in epidemiology, health services, data science related to caring for children with a cleft. The fellowship is designed to prepare the post-doctoral level trainee for a career in an academic or non-profit multidisciplinary setting focused on health of vulnerable children and/or those with craniofacial, oral and/or dental conditions.
