About The Position

The Postdoctoral Associate will assist the Principal Investigator Dr. Chiung-Kuei Huang in the Department of Medicine-Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. The incumbent will conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University. The successful incumbent will have excellent interpersonal skills, exercising strong organizational and time-management skills with an exceptional attention to detail. Essential for this role is the adeptness to work independently as well as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem solving.

Requirements

  • Doctoral Degree (or foriegn equivalent) in Molecular Biology, Biological Science, Biochemistry or a closely related field in hand by the start of the appointment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in cancer research, single cell isolation, spleen, thymus, lymph node collection. Knowledge on how to perform the protein hydroxylation assay using aspartate beta-hydroxylase, 5hmC, and 5mC assays.
  • Experience in immunology research, TET1 in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, TET1 in alcoholic liver disease, and TET1 in liver cancer progression.
  • Experience in studying aspartate beta-hydroxylase in liver disease progression.
  • Experience in analytical procedures HPLC-PDA, UPLC, LC-MS/MS, GC-MS/MS, and QTOF high resolution mass.

Responsibilities

  • Within the predetermined research scope and methodology, conduct research experiments in the field of chronic liver disease.
  • Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies as needed.
  • Collect and analyze data, including periodical/literature search and utilizing specialized skills in related field to analyze the collected data.
  • Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations. May also assist in grant writing.
  • Other duties as assigned, which may include attending Scientific Conferences and Meetings.
