About The Position

A Postdoctoral Associate position is available at the Animal Sciences Department in the laboratory of Dr. Tess Stahl. Candidate must have a Ph.D. degree in an area relevant to ruminant nutrition. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a publication record consistent with career level, and an interest in understanding research in ruminant nutrition and lactation biology. Experience in ruminant husbandry, diet formulation for beef cattle and/or small ruminants, data analysis and interpretation, and independent research is required. Salary will be commensurate with NIH and Rutgers guidelines. The position is based in the Stahl laboratory, housed on Cook Campus of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. As a postdoctoral associate, the candidate would have abundant opportunities to interact with members of the vibrant community with a research focus on byproduct feed utilization within Rutgers University and the Department of Animal Sciences. Overview The Department of Animal Sciences, with strong roots in the land-grant tradition, has as its mission “to improve the health and well-being of animals, including humans, through integration of teaching, research, and outreach.” Animal Sciences is a popular major for many students at Rutgers with over 450 students enrolled in one of the five options: Pre-veterinary Medicine and Research, Laboratory Animal Science, Equine Science, Production Animal Science, and Companion Animal Science. The curriculum provides students with the scientific knowledge, technical skills, and experience to be competitive for entrance into professional schools (veterinary, graduate, medical, etc.) or employment in animal science-related fields. Our graduates are highly regarded by professional schools and employers.
