The Postdoctoral Associate will conduct research in the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences under the supervision of Principal Investigator, Dr. Roy Price. The selected candidate will evaluate organic compound concentration and character in sediments before and after wet-dry/freeze-thaw cycling in a Mars Environmental Climate Simulator (MECS), a type of Mars chamber. Successful candidates will have a proven record of high-level research and laboratory/experiment experience, as well as a solid record of publications and conference presentations. Postdoctoral Associate duties will include: ● Within the predetermined research scope and methodology, conduct experiments to determine organic compound concentration and character before and after exposure in Mars chamber. ● Conduct thermodynamic calculations using obtained data to evaluate habitability of early Mars. ● Write up and publish results in a peer-reviewed journal. ● Other duties as assigned.
