About The Position

The Aerospace Mechanics Research Center (AMReC) seeks a PostDoctoral Associate to contribute to a fundamental research project focused on large-scale acoustic and magnetic numerical simulations for underwater vehicles. The research associate will work closely with partners at other universities, requiring adherence to timelines and project milestones. The postdoctoral research associate will be responsible for developing computational methods and numerical algorithms to identify geometric features in CAD models that can be omitted in numerical simulations of acoustic and magnetic fields. Key techniques for this role include shape and parameter sensitivities, error estimation, and machine learning techniques.

Requirements

  • The candidate must have a completed PhD at the time of appointment.
  • Expertise in computational mechanics, CAD and meshing, finite element formulations, shape sensitivity analysis, and software development is essential.
  • Candidate must be a US Citizen.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of acoustics and magnetics, domain-decomposition-based parallel solution solvers, design optimization, and advanced coding skills in C or C++.

Responsibilities

  • Developing computational methods and numerical algorithms to identify geometric features in CAD models that can be omitted in numerical simulations of acoustic and magnetic fields.

Benefits

  • medical, dental, and retirement plans
  • generous paid time off
  • tuition assistance for you and your dependents
  • an ECO Pass for local transit
