Occupational Summary Conduct independent research activities under the guidance of a faculty mentor in preparation for a full-time academic or research career. Job Description Applicants will be involved in studying the impact of hypertension on postoperative cognitive outcome, including delirium, during aging. The project will focus on understanding mechanisms whereby peripheral surgery impacts neuroinflammation and neurovascular interactions using mouse models and micro physiological systems. Some of these scientific questions span into characterizing molecular changes in the blood-brain barrier, glia activation, and neurodegenerative hallmarks. Novel therapeutics and access to clinical samples will be leveraged as part of other ongoing NIA-funded projects in the laboratory and through multiple active collaborations.
