The Department of Biochemistry is looking for a postdoctoral associate to work in the lab of Dr. Kate Meyer on research projects.

Requirements

  • PhD in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biology, Biochemistry, or similar sciences

Nice To Haves

  • Experience studying gene regulation and/or RNA biology

Responsibilities

  • Perform scientific experiments, including, but not limited to, the following techniques: Mammalian cell culture
  • Cloning/subcloning/targeted mutagenesis
  • Protein assays, including immunoblots and immunoprecipitations
  • RT-PCR and RNA analyses
  • Cell transfections and selections
  • RNA-seq and sequencing data analysis
  • RNA modification profiling
  • Lead one or more research projects investigating RNA and the m6A modification
  • Conducting rigorous research and follow all safety protocols
  • Presenting data and journal club papers during lab meetings
  • Maintaining personal laboratory records
  • Communicating regularly with the PI and laboratory members
  • Interface with other Duke scientists, including core laboratories
