About The Position

The Postdoctoral Associate will support the Principal Investigator, Dr. Maureen O’Leary, in the Department of Anatomical Sciences The incumbent will conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University. Requirements

  • PhD degree (or foreign equivalent) in vertebrate paleontology with a concentration in fossil mammal evolution or a closely related field.
  • Expertise in cranial, postcranial and dental anatomy of fossil mammals.
  • Demonstrated research experience in CT-based anatomical studies of fossil mammals.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior publications on Cretaceous or Paleogene fossil mammals, particularly those of Asia.

Responsibilities

  • Within the predetermined research scope and methodology, conduct research in the field of mammalian paleontology.
  • Collect and analyze data, including periodical/literature search and utilizing specialized skills in related field to analyze the collected data.
  • Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations. May also assist in grant writing.
  • Other duties as assigned, which may include attending Scientific Conferences and Meetings.
