About The Position

The postdoc will collaborate closely with Dr. J. Arbuckle to research farmers' perspectives on climate change and identify social and biophysical factors that influence adaptation and mitigation behaviors. They will combine data from the Iowa Farm and Rural Life Poll with weather and climate information to perform innovative analyses of how experienced weather over time relates to perceived risks and management actions for adaptation and mitigation. The postdoc is also expected to develop one or two manuscripts for submission to scientific journals.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Earth System Science
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a data analyst working in multi-disciplinary teams to understand climate-related risks facing agriculture.
  • Experience evaluating the spatial-temporal variability of climate-induced agricultural impact risks and linking weather data to farmer data via GIS coordinates to analyze relationships between weather patterns and farmers' adaptation and mitigation attitudes and behaviors.
