About The Position

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities: The postdoc will divide their time between two projects. For the NIH project, they will be responsible for developing mitochondrial DNA editing tools, establishing disease models, and characterizing mutants. For the industry-sponsored project, they will develop a novel platform for the continuous evolution of yeast strains using base editing technologies. Department/Program & College Description: In 1913 Iowa State University was among the first to offer a degree in what was then a new discipline – chemical engineering. Since those early beginnings, the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering rapidly established itself as one of the most highly respected chemical engineering programs that balances excellent undergraduate education with an innovative graduate program and impactful research portfolio.

Requirements

  • PhD in biochemical engineering or related field

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise in developing genetic manipulation tools for non-model yeast species.
  • Experience in genome editing and microbial fermentation technologies.
