About The Position

Post Doctoral Scholar to join the School of Earth Sciences at The Ohio State University studying coral microbiology and virology extraction, concentration, and identification. The Post Doctoral Scholar will embark on a program of independent research with the primary goal to refine a method for microbial and viral sample enrichment from corals. Duties will include conducting laboratory experiments and data collection leading to the preparation and submission of a manuscript to a peer-reviewed journal; and mentoring students. Other responsibilities include participating in the Office of Postdoctoral Studies career development workshops.

Requirements

• PhD in Biology, Earth Science, Marine Science or a related field by the time of hire is required, along with a strong theoretical or practical knowledge in coral microbiology and virology.
• Demonstrated experience in development of microfluidics methods.
• Demonstrated experience operating and maintaining a laboratory equipment relevant to the research
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work in teams
• A collaborative mentality towards research and mentoring.
• These required and desired skills should be demonstrated through a record of peer-reviewed publications.
