About The Position

Participates in electronic materials and device research on wide bandgap semiconductor materials and devices based on Silicon Carbide, emphasizing applications in future power devices and electronics; conducts electronic characterization experiments at the materials and device levels including electronic device characterization; carries out device design; obtains experience in project design and project management, including regular interactions with external partners and sponsors; coordinates team reviews and supports report activities; mentors graduate students; writes and publishes papers; presents findings at conferences.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering
  • experience with power electronics using SiC devices

Responsibilities

  • Performs research with the Center for High Performance Power Electronics in the area of wide band gap power devices and power electronics; conducts research in the areas of wideband gap power devices and power electronics, collects and analyzes characterization and reliability data; guides experimental work conducted by graduate students
  • Assists faculty and other collaborators, or acts independently as needed, in planning and designing research experiments, establishing priorities, and recommending schedules, timetables and costs
  • Documents and shares project plans and outcomes in the forms of operating procedures, intellectual property records, research presentations, and journal publications; prepares research results for publication in reports, papers, journals, books and other media; visits to funding agencies; provides research reports as needed for submission to funding agencies
  • Prepares seminars, talks or lectures for the dissemination of knowledge, particularly the results of research undertaken; assists with writing grant proposals; performs other related duties as assigned
