About The Position

This is a two-year post-doctoral appointment (with possible renewal) to provide advance research training to individuals with a doctoral degree in the biological sciences and to further the basic and translational research goals in the Children's Research Institute. The postdoctoral research fellow will conduct high quality research in basic and translational science. Our lab has recently developed an embryonic transplant model of invasion that can identify the most highly invasive and motile population within a tumor. Applying this to neuroblastoma, a pediatric cancer will poor survival and high recurrence rate, we identified a 22-gene panel of potentially targetable novel biomarkers and are poised to test these in a neuroblastoma organoid model. The postdoctoral research fellow will take a leading role in developing patient specific neuroblastoma organoids from a patient's blood sample working with a current research scientist within the lab. Additionally, the postdoc will use this platform to elucidate the function of newly discovered molecular targets to inhibit tumor growth and invasion.
