About The Position

The Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia and the Richard A. Mayo Center for Asset Management invite applications for a post-doctoral research associate position beginning in July 2026 The research associate will work closely with a Finance area faculty member, primarily supporting research and data analysis pertaining to the Center's various on-going research projects. The successful candidate will advance a number of research projects from conceptualization through publication, formulate research methods, suggest options for improving quality, identify potential problems, recommend and implement solutions, and collaborate in the development of new techniques. We expect that a significant portion of time will be devoted to collaborating with other faculty. This is a one-year appointment; however, appointment may be renewed for an additional two, one-year increments, contingent upon available funding and satisfactory performance. Requirements

  • Candidates must have a PhD in Finance or related field by the start date.
  • Candidates must show potential for excellence in research on topics related broadly to Venture Capital, Private Equity, Real Estate, Investments, Institutional Investors or Asset Management.
  • Candidates must also demonstrate excellent oral and written communication in daily interactions, and proven ability to clearly articulate specific information in areas of subject matter expertise.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and one or more statistical programs is required.
