Job Description Summary The Post-Doctoral Fellow will assess and treat patients with physical disability due to traumatic injuries or illnesses to assist patients in dealing with emotional reaction to their disability. The post-doctoral fellow will have the option to train in a variety of settings including a major rotation in acute inpatient rehabilitation, with minor rotations in our Day Rehabilitation program, Pain Management Center, Functional Movement Disorder Clinic, and Outpatient Neuropsychology. Within these settings, the post-doctoral fellow obtains patient case history and conducts initial psychological assessments. As clinically indicated, the post-doctoral fellow provides psychotherapy services for individuals, families, and within groups. The post-doctoral fellow additionally provides capacity evaluations, behavioral management plans, co-treatments, and suicide assessments, as needed. The post-doctoral fellow acts as an integral part of the treatment team for their designated rotation. Job Description The Post-Doctoral Fellow, Psychology will: Interview patients, families, and other appropriate personnel to obtain information regarding patient's personal, medical, psychiatric, substance use, and social history. Conduct psychological and/or neuropsychological evaluations. Provide consultation and therapeutic intervention for individuals, families, and groups. Engage in evidenced-based interventions, including, but not limited to Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness based interventions, and relaxation training. Lead and/or cofacilitate psychoeducational groups. Consult with treatment teams regarding psychological and neuropsychological factors that would affect implementation of rehabilitation programs and patient-therapist relationships. Conduct capacity evaluations to assist the medical team with decision making abilities. Conduct suicide assessments to assist with safety planning. Co-treat with other allied health disciplines when emotional and/or behavioral factors interfere with rehabilitation progress. Provide discharge planning and follow-up services including psychological referrals for patients and families. Maintain patient documentation per organization requirements. Participate in Psychology Training with Doctoral-Level Advanced Practicum Students, including individual supervision, group supervision, and didactics. Provide professional presentations as requested (e.g., faculty development, grand rounds, medical school teaching) Participates in research activities. Perform all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.
