The project will focus on improving surgical procedures for knee injuries using state-of-the-art biomedical imaging. The effects of surgery on knee kinematics and cartilage health will be evaluated using biplane radiography and quantitative MRI. The goal is to improve outcomes for patients who sustain knee ligament injuries. The individual will work with our research engineer, research fellows, and students to complete the proposed study. An abstract and research manuscript will be required to document the research efforts. Your research work will expand on ongoing efforts to analyze the molecular encoding of memory in macrophages and T cells and its functional consequences for innate as well as adaptive immune responses. The proposed work will take advantage of expertise in single cell and single molecule analyses as well as leverage experimental and computational tools, the latter enabling predictions of DNA sequences that dictate memory specific alterations in chromatin structure at single base pair resolution. Changes in these research plans may occur and will be based on mutual discussions with Drs. Gottschalk and Singh discuss evolving research priorities and experimental progress.
