About The Position

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of The Miami Project has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Post Doctoral Associate to work at the UHealth Medical Campus. Core Job Summary The Post Doctoral Associate performs scientific research and studies under the supervision of managing staff. Moreover, the Post Doctoral Associate promotes institutional recognition through literal contributions to the scientific community. The Miami project to Cure Paralysis is a center for neuroscience regarding neurotrauma and neurological disease. Dr. Widerstrom-Noga’s research program focuses on human chronic pain associated with these conditions. The postdoctoral associate will conduct verbal and psychophysical pain assessments, non-invasive brain stimulation, visual illusions, manage and analyze data, present, and publish results. The postdoctoral associate will be expected to communicate and interact well within our pain research group and with Miami Project faculty, staff, administrators and research participants. Requirements

  • Ph.D. required
  • Human research experience involving the application of biostatistics, psychophysical and neuromodulatory methods to assess and target pain is required.
  • Skills in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
  • Ability to work well with members of the research team
  • Ability to communicate well with research participants.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts research on specific areas of chronic pain studies as assigned.
  • Analyzes study data and summarizes results.
  • Prepares research reports and technical papers for conference presentations and publishing in scientific journals.
  • Applies a wide variety of scientific principles and theories.
  • Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories in pain research.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
  • Conduct verbal and psychophysical pain assessments
  • Conduct non-invasive brain stimulation
  • Conduct visual illusions
  • Manage and analyze data
  • Present, and publish results.
  • Communicate and interact well within our pain research group and with Miami Project faculty, staff, administrators and research participants.
