The Singson laboratory at the Waksman Institute of Microbiology is seeking a postdoctoral associate to participate in our studies of reproductive biology in the C. elegans model system. Specifically, the candidate will contribute to our fertilization synapse, sperm activation, and sperm mitochondria dynamics projects. Experience with C. elegans genetics, reproduction, cell biology are required. Further, experience with protein-protein interaction methods like the split ubiquitin yeast-two hybrid method and SIM microscopy training will be needed. The individual will report directly to the laboratory Principle Investigator (PI). The position requires being able to design and carry out experiments with the C. elegans model system as well as other experimental systems in the lab such as yeast two hybrid protein-protein interaction methods. The candidate should be able to work unsupervised day-to-day, but in consultation with the primary investigator for long term goals of the research. The candidate should also be able to professionally communicate and justify experimental approaches and results in both oral and written form. Any manuscripts for publication will be corresponded by the candidate. The scope of work is primarily as a member of the Singson lab research team. However, scientific interactions at the Waksman Institute, Department of Genetics, and other relevant units will be required as the research progresses.
