Hussman Institute has an exciting opportunity for a full time Post Doctoral Associate. The incumbent performs scientific research and studies under the supervision of managing staff. Moreover, the Post Doctoral Associate promotes institutional recognition through literal contributions to the scientific community. The John P. Hussman Institute for Human Genomics at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to work on the statistical and genetic epidemiological aspects of Alzheimer’s Disease (AD), as part of a multidisciplinary AD research team, led by Drs. Margaret Pericak-Vance, Eden Martin and Gary Beecham. This team of investigators is comprised of molecular geneticists, neurologists, bioinformaticians, and statistical and genetic epidemiologists who work together on studies related to AD. The qualified candidate will work on research directed towards identifying genes and the mechanisms that they influence to increase the risk and outcomes associated with AD. The candidate will gain experience with next generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis in families and unrelated individuals from multi-ethnic populations. This project offers a unique opportunity to participate in both the Alzheimer’s Disease Genetics Consortium (ADGC) and the Alzheimer’s Disease Sequencing Project (ADSP). This list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties or responsibilities as necessary.
