The Wolfe laboratory will be filling a postdoctoral position to develop therapeutic genome editing reagents for muscular dystrophies and cancer. These projects will focus on: 1) The development of prime editing reagents with high activity and specificity for the precise correction of common pathogenic mutations associated with Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy. 2) The development of genome editing reagents for selective killing of cancer cells harboring gene amplifications. 3) The utilization of unbiased genome-wide techniques for assessing off-target events and other genomic alterations potentially associated with genome editing. 4) The translation of the developed genome editing reagents to clinical application through in vivo safety and efficacy studies in relevant mouse models. These studies will expose the successful candidate to cutting-edge genome editor engineering approaches and the delivery of these reagents in vivo via AAV or lipid nanoparticles. The successful candidate will also learn cutting edge deep-sequencing approaches to evaluate off-target editing within the genome. They will have the opportunity to participate in meetings/conferences associated with genome editing and gene therapy, which will broaden their exposure to cutting edge research within the field.
