Your technical expertise in data science infrastructure makes you a key team player, solving complex challenges at the intersection of systems administration and analytics. Here, you'll have the ability to work with a team of data scientists, engineers, and system administrators to support the client mission. We are seeking someone who can maintain and enhance multiple Posit deployments (Workbench, Connect, and Package Manager), ensuring the infrastructure remains functional and available to support critical public health analytics. As a Posit System Administrator on our project, you'll constantly look for ways to make the data science infrastructure better using the latest technology and best implementation strategies. Your technical expertise will be vital as you identify problem areas and opportunities for improvement of mission-critical systems, working closely with technical, network, platform, functional, and customer support teams as a dedicated Posit specialist.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience with systems administration in Linux environments, including system management, application patching, and optimization
  • 3+ years of experience administering Posit products (Workbench, Connect, Package Manager)
  • Experience creating and managing R and Python packages
  • Experience with vulnerability scanning tools such as SCC, Nessus, or ACAS
  • Experience with multiple IDEs including RStudio, VS Code, and Jupyter Labs/Notebook
  • Knowledge of system hardening using DoD Security Requirements Guides (SRGs) and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)
  • Knowledge of backup and recovery procedures for critical systems
  • Ability to install, update, and manage complex R, Python, and system dependencies in Linux
  • Possession of one of the following certifications: Cloud+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+, SSCP, SecurityX, CASP+, CCNP Security, CCSP, FITSP-O, or GFAACT
  • Bachelors degree
  • US Citizenship or Permanent Resident - Clearable; Must be able to obtain a Public Trust

  • Kubernetes and Azure Container Registry for containerized deployments
  • Managing Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems
  • Developing with frameworks like Dash, Streamlit, Bokeh, Flask, or Shiny
  • Automation and scripting tools (Bash, Python, Ansible)
  • Managing networks using Cisco switches
  • Hyper-V or VMware vSphere for virtual machine management
  • Authentication systems (LDAP, Active Directory, SSO, SAML)
  • Common data science Python and R libraries (tidyverse, pandas, scikit-learn, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain Posit Workbench, Posit Connect, and Posit Package Manager across multiple deployments
  • Manage complex R, Python, and system dependencies in Linux environments while coordinating between technical teams
  • Provide user support, triage technical issues, and deliver best-practice guidance for R, Python, and Shiny development
  • Perform system hardening and security compliance activities following DoD STIGs and SRGs
  • Monitor system performance, manage user access and authentication, and support backup and disaster recovery procedures
