About The Position

The Portfolio Manager is responsible for managing a portfolio of loan and deposit relationships with customers. This includes recommending loans for approval within assigned limits, managing loan and portfolio credit quality, and cross-selling appropriate bank products and services to prospects and customers. The role also provides assistance to Relationship Managers with day-to-day underwriting responsibilities. Key duties involve retaining and expanding existing customer relationships, prospecting for and closing new business in partnership with Relationship Managers, and growing net revenue year over year as directed by Senior Management. The manager will also provide training/coaching to Credit Analysts, manage credit quality by structuring, underwriting, and recommending new and existing relationships according to Company credit policy, and properly identify risk management and risk rating. They will manage assigned customer relationships, bringing in product specialists as needed, and resolve customer problems by acting as a liaison with other departments to ensure high levels of service. The position also involves managing overall customer and regional credit underwriting strategies, developing and implementing relationship strategies for cross-selling bank products and services, and satisfying customer requirements with a full array of loan, deposit, cash management, and other appropriate bank products. The Portfolio Manager must stay current on the bank’s lending policies, products, and services, participate in community and CRA activities, and ensure compliance with the Company’s Code of Ethics and all Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering, USA Patriot Act, information security, and suspicious activity reporting requirements.

Requirements

  • Computer skills to include use of Microsoft Office products and other programs as required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to foster and sustain collaborative work relationships within the bank.
  • Requires strong relationship management and business development abilities, and well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must possess a broad knowledge of bank products and services that result in successfully capitalizing on all opportunities.

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Five to seven years of commercial lending experience.
  • Broad knowledge and experience in banking operations, products, and services.

Responsibilities

  • Retain and expand relationships with existing customers.

  • Actively ensure compliance with the Company’s Code of Ethics and all Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering, USA Patriot Act, information security and suspicious activity reporting requirements, policy and procedures.
  • Actively participates in any required corporate and business line training in these areas.
  • Follows account opening procedures and understands and follows internal suspicious activity referral requirements and processes, as required for this position.
  • Actively works with customers to understand each customer’s normal account activity, as appropriate for this position.
