About The Position

Sol Systems is an independent power producer committed to building and operating clean energy infrastructure that benefits communities for the long term. We develop, finance, and own solar and storage projects across the United States and partner with utilities, corporations, and local organizations to deliver responsible energy solutions. Sol Systems is seeking a Portfolio Manager to join the Asset Management team. As Sol Systems’ base of customers and projects grows, the team will play an increasingly vital role for the company. The Asset Management team helps Sol Systems and its clients manage their solar investments through technical and financial analysis and advisory services. The team also supports Sol Systems’ strategic vision by monitoring the company’s direct investments, managing financial exposure from existing contracts, and advising the company on strategic initiatives. The group provides real-world feedback to internal and external stakeholders from technical analysis of its operating portfolio. This is a great opportunity to gain visibility and breadth into our Utility Scale portfolio, C&I teams, and the various types of assets that Sol develops.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Three or more years of experience in renewable energy asset management, project management and/or project finance
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to succinctly summarize complex financial and technical issues, both in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to organize and manage workflows across different teams and individuals
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Flexibility and ability to work in a small office, open floor plan environment.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating the onboarding of projects with internal and external teams from the start of construction to commercial operation.
  • Acting as the primary contact with fund or project counterparties and investors.
  • Identifying potential structural risks in solar transactions and taking action to proactively address them.
  • Providing regular updates to investors on project performance and financial returns.
  • Working with EPC contractors and Sol’s internal project management team to track construction progress and communicate timing to internal teams and investors.
  • Managing financing draws with investors, debt providers and project counterparties.
  • Coordinating with other asset management staff and Sol’s accounting team as well as technical and legal advisors.
  • Overseeing workflow of junior support staff.
