About The Position

The Portfolio Associate supports the oversight and monitoring of OFN’s on- and off-balance sheet borrower loans and investments. This role performs financial analysis, compliance tracking, and portfolio reporting while delivering quality customer service to OFN borrowers. The Associate ensures data integrity, assists with borrower reviews, and provides analytical support for portfolio monitoring and risk management. This position requires strong attention to detail, analytical ability, and collaboration across OFN’s Investment Services teams. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or related field 3-5 years direct work experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in financial analysis, credit risk, or portfolio monitoring; CDFI or mission-driven lending experience preferred. 0 to 2 years of finance-related experience with a graduate degree.
  • Good understanding of portfolio management systems (e.g., Salesforce), Excel, and financial analysis.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with the CDFI industry, community lending practices, and mission-driven finance preferred.
  • Experience with Salesforce is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage borrower reporting and covenant compliance, including collection and review of quarterly, semi-annual, and annual financial statements, borrowing base reports, and covenant compliance worksheets, ensure timely submission and follow up with borrowers in the event of delays or violations.
  • Review borrower compliance worksheets against loan covenants and flag potential issues to senior staff.
  • Provide training and technical support to borrowers on compliance reporting templates, schedules, and submission requirements.
  • With support from senior staff, perform annual credit reviews of borrowers, including analysis of audited financial statements, spreading financials and calculating ratios, and preparing annual review memos.
  • Spread borrower financial statements into OFN’s financial spreads template and quarterly/semi-annual performance trackers and support the analysis of financial performance and portfolio quality data.
  • Analyze portfolio trends and identify vulnerabilities by interpreting borrower ratios, payment history, and external economic influences.
  • Prepare waiver and modification requests by compiling borrower documentation and developing initial analyses, with support from senior staff.
  • In collaboration with Credit Risk and Portfolio Management senior staff and Investment Officers, present waivers and modification requests to OFN’s credit approval bodies.
  • Assist in monitoring watchlist loans and identifying early warning signs of borrower distress.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual portfolio reports, dashboards, and Credit/Investment Committee packages.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of data in portfolio management systems (e.g., Salesforce, Excel, etc.).
  • Assist in scheduling Credit Review and Investment Committee meetings, compile/distribute packages, manage follow-ups, and record meeting minutes.
  • Support internal and external portfolio reporting, including inputs for third-party portfolio reviews.
  • Collaborate with Investment Officers, Originations, and Investment Operations teams to ensure smooth handoffs from loan closing to active portfolio management.
  • Work closely with Investment Officers on annual reviews as well as waiver and modification requests to ensure thorough analysis and timely approvals.
  • Assist senior staff with special projects, portfolio analysis, and strategic initiatives.
  • Contribute to a culture of accountability, transparency, and collaboration within the Credit Risk & Portfolio Management and Investment Services team.
