What is the opportunity? As a Portfolio Analyst on our Managed Portfolio Strategies team, you will have the opportunity to support the US Wealth Management (RBC WM) business’ recruitment, onboarding, internal training, education, and marketing campaigns focused on our managed asset solutions. This consultative role will provide product recommendations and portfolio-level investment advice to client-facing professionals. Your role will be aligned directly to the firm’s overall business strategy of growing our advisory assets and helps to ensure RBC WM remains competitive in providing expert advice on managed solutions to affluent, high net worth, and ultra-high net worth investors. What will you do? Advisor Support Assist business leaders with the competitive recruiting process by providing transition analysis and participating in recruit meetings Act as the lead MPS analyst aiding the onboarding process of recently recruited financial advisors including assessing their managed assets and mapping them to investment strategies and models available at RBC Partner with internal teams including Advisor Recruiting and Advisory Programs, and others, to develop a framework for analyzing, assessing and transitioning recruited financial advisors’ managed assets Assist with servicing Ultra High Net Worth cases when applicable, coordinating advice and guidance with wealth strategists and wealth management consultants Work collaboratively with client-facing professionals, offering product expertise and guidance regarding investment strategy (asset allocation), investment selection (product recommendations), and portfolio construction using managed investments and discretionary portfolios Produce thought leadership that helps to inform and educate advisors on industry trends, investment themes, and timely portfolio construction ideas Participate on conference calls, WebEx and in-person meetings with RBC financial advisors and clients Leverage and promote the expertise and insights of internal research teams and resources Assist with internal education, training, and marketing campaigns / events Strategic and ad hoc projects as assigned Discretionary Portfolio Support & Marketing Support the RBC Discretionary Portfolios by sustaining an elevated level of investment knowledge on the product suite, leveraging the expertise and insights of internal research teams and investment committees Promote RBC’s portfolio construction framework and multi-asset portfolios via internal education, training, and marketing campaigns / events Contribute thought leadership, specifically related to portfolio construction best practices and insights in support of the investment framework and discretionary portfolios Actively participate in regular and ad-hoc portfolio management meetings to provide perspective of the current advisor and client market environment What do you need to succeed? Must-have Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Finance, Economics, or Business Minimum of 3 years financial industry experience FINRA Series 7 and 66 licenses (or 63 and 65) within 180 days In-depth knowledge of exchange-traded funds, mutual funds and managed accounts Knowledge of investment management disciplines such as asset allocation, portfolio construction, risk return analytics, performance measurement and reporting. Deep understanding of portfolio management concepts and investment management responsibilities. Strong written and oral communication skills, including developed presentation skills with the ability to influence and persuade colleagues and advisors across the organization. Nice-to-have Willingness to pursue CFA®, CFP®, or CIMA® designation or other professional designations 5 or more years of securities or financial markets experience What’s in it for you? The expected salary range for this particular position is $70,000-$130,000, depending on your experience, skills, and registration status, market conditions and business needs. You have the potential to earn more through RBC’s discretionary variable compensation program which gives you an opportunity to increase your total compensation, provided the business meets its performance targets and you meet your individual goals.
