Position SummaryThe Portfolio Accountant is a key contributor to the Portfolio & Risk Management team, responsible for accurate cash accounting, high‑quality reconciliations, and strong financial controls. This role requires technical precision, analytical problem‑solving, and a commitment to continuous improvement—especially through process automation and AI‑enabled tools.

Requirements

3+ years of progressive accounting experience in cash accounting, bank reconciliations, or general ledger
Strong understanding of GAAP and reconciliation best practices.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills; adaptability and flexibility to changing environment; and comfortable working in a dynamic, high volume, fast-paced environment.
Ability to understand and ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and laws governing our industry/business and products.
Must be eligible to work in the USA and able to pass a background check.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
Experience in high‑volume cash environments or financial services is a plus.
ERP: SAP or similar; FloQast for close management.
Excel: Power Pivot (DAX), dynamic arrays, XLOOKUP, INDEX‑MATCH, macros.
SQL: Intermediate Snowflake/MySQL for queries, joins, and data validation.
AI Literacy: Understanding of generative AI capabilities, limitations, governance, and responsible use.
Growth Mindset: Demonstrated willingness to learn and apply AI tools to improve productivity and automation.

Responsibilities

Monitor daily cash transactions, loan payments, loan balances, and loss reserves.
Perform reconciliations across bank accounts, payment processors, and internal ledgers.
Investigate variances, aged reconciling items, and cash differences.
Prepare journal entries and ensure timely, accurate posting of cash activity.
Track cash movements, bank fees, transfers, and settlement activity.
Maintain reconciliation schedules and support month‑end close
Test and validate subledger data flows into SAP and Snowflake.
Collaborate with Technology and Accounting teams to strengthen data accuracy and process integrity.
Provide clear, well‑documented support for internal and external audits.
Identify opportunities to enhance internal controls and reduce manual processes.
Use Teampurpose.io or Microsoft Copilot (with governance) to accelerate documentation, SQL queries, reconciliations, and audit responses.
Document improved workflows, including process maps and data lineage diagrams.
Participate in Finance/IT project testing to support data integrity and process transformation
Translate complex financial data into clear, concise narratives for leadership.
Partner with Treasury, AP/AR, Controller, and Operations to resolve issues and align on process improvements.
