About The Position

The Lead Staff member is responsible for assisting the Pop-up Play Program Coordinator in facilitating a high-quality out-of-school time program, ensuring goals are being achieved, and supporting a safe and engaging learning environment for youth. Requirements

  • 18 years of age or older
  • High School/GED plus 1-2 years’ post-secondary education, preferably in field related to youth and families
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training with 60 days of hire date
  • Commitment of supporting principles of equal opportunity and affirmative action to achieve a diverse work environment.
  • The ability to pass a fingerprinting background check

  • Significant experience working with elementary aged youth in a variety of settings
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with parents, employees, other agencies, school district employees, the public and others
  • Knowledge and commitment to the mission, goals, philosophy of the program
  • Ability to adhere to the laws and policies governing the program
  • Interest in innovation, leadership, and program management
  • Willingness to learn grant writing skills
  • Experience leading groups of youth and working as a professional team member
  • Enthusiasm, patience, creativity, common sense and a commitment to working with children

Responsibilities

  • Assist with program design, preparation, and implementation
  • Set up play materials, supervise and support youth during play, return play materials to storage, and check over the condition of the materials before and after play
  • Maintain emotionally and physically safe environment for youth during self-determined outdoor play
  • Observe attentively and communicate clearly in support of physical safety, social-emotional needs, and relationship-building
  • Convey to youth the risks of the activities they are doing and help youth make safe judgments
  • Assist with training summer out-of-school time staff on Pop-up Play programming
  • Assist with communication and relationship building with partner sites and families
  • Be reliable and responsible
  • Assist administrative tasks, including data entry and evaluation requirements
  • Assist with grant search and writing to support program sustainability and expansion
  • Foster an inclusive environment appreciative of differences in the workplace
  • Participate in and lead efforts to support the Y's commitment to equity and diversity
  • Overseeing program management in absence of Program Coordinator
  • Other duties as assigned
